No child should go to bed hungry.
"Every child is your child."
Our outreach to the townships and low-income communities of Cape Town

A Plate at a Time
The InnerCity Mission is the humanitarian arm of our church — and in Cape Town, it looks like pots on a fire before sunrise, volunteers plating rice and stew, and children lining up with lunchboxes in hand.
We take hot, nourishing meals into townships and low-income communities across the city, week after week. For many of the children we serve, this is the one full meal they can count on that day.
We don't feed statistics. We feed children — by name, by face, by plate.
Why It Matters
A hungry child cannot learn, cannot play, cannot dream. Everything else we hope for them begins with a meal.
Hunger Steals Childhood
In too many homes across our city, the school holidays and the end of the month mean empty plates. Children carry that quietly.
A Meal Opens a Door
Food is how we get to sit with a family, hear their story, pray with them, and keep coming back. Care starts practical.
Consistency Builds Trust
We return to the same streets, the same schools, the same halls — so that the children know we are not a once-off visit.
How an Outreach Day Runs
From the kitchen to the queue, every outreach is carried by volunteers who give their Saturday, their pots, and their hands.
01
Cook
Volunteers cook in bulk — rice, samp, stew, pap — often starting before dawn.
02
Plate
Every portion is dished up individually so that no child waits longer than they have to.
03
Go
We take the food out to the community — schoolyards, church halls, streets and homes.
04
Stay
We eat with them, pray with them, and come back again — because relationship is the point.
From the Field
Ordinary days, ordinary plates, extraordinary joy.
You Can Feed a Child
This outreach runs entirely on the generosity of people who decide that someone else's child is their child too.
Give
Sponsor meals for an outreach. Every contribution goes straight into the pot — rice, maize, vegetables, meat and gas.
Sponsor a Meal →Serve
Join a cooking team or an outreach team. If you can stir a pot, dish a plate, or drive a bakkie, there is a place for you.
Volunteer →Donate Goods
Non-perishable food, cooking supplies, warm clothing and blankets all make their way into the hands of a family who needs them.

Every Child Is Your Child
Thousands of children across Cape Town have been fed because ordinary people gave what they had. Will you be one of them?
